Art and artists are the places and people that can show us how the world is changing. Given the rapid economic advances in Asia over the past 20 years, it seems essential that new cultural connections are build across the continent so that we can all gain a greater understanding of what is happening at the roots of Asia's different societies. The Multitude Art Prize offers a wonderfully multi-faceted project to achieve this. With its nomadic exhibition and discussion programme, Multitude can build up a series of rich encounters across Asia and offer a unique new insight into what our collective future might hold.”

Foundation appoints goodwill Ambassador Joanne Ooi

The Multitude Foundation has appointed Joanne Ooi as its first goodwill Ambassador.  Her role is to help raise awareness and assist with fundraising.

Joanne Ooi is a founder of Ooi Botos Gallery, one of Asia's leading contemporary art galleries until it closed in 2011. Now, she is the CEO of ecommerce company,, which has been widely ballyhooed in fashion and tech industry circles for its disruptive consumer retail sales model. Before Plukka, Ooi founded environmental NGO, Clean Air Network (CAN), in 2009. CAN conducted the biggest environmental campaign in Hong Kong's history and quickly became one of the fastest growing NGOs in Asia. One of CAN's greatest achievements was the organization and implementation of Asia's first true environmental art exhibition and auction, the Clean Air Auction, sponsored by Sotheby's and the International Herald Tribune among others. Prior to CAN, Ooi was the Creative Director of Shanghai Tang.  Largely credited with the turn-around of Shanghai Tang, Ooi has been profiled in the New York Times, Time Magazine, Good Morning America and appeared on the cover of Fast Company Magazine, in addition to many other international media.  Ooi graduated from Columbia University and has a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
